I don’t know what the weather is like in the rest of the world, but in England we’ve been experiencing somewhat of an unusual heatwave for a long time now, and with that it can be hard to know exactly what to wear.A lot of gents are still wearing their normal winter suits or going for the classic t shirt, shorts and trainers but what other options are there for us to wear for all occasions?Whether it’s a wedding, work, a date, festival, evening out or your normal day to day we’ve got you covered with advice and inspiration for your outfit choices this summer. Here’s our guide to men’s summer outfits for every occasion.Image Credit: Left @avramov.zoran Right @aligordon89For a lot of us, we still have to wear smart suits even in the heat, so to avoid overheating on the tube steer clear of three piece suits and wear as few layers as you possibly can. If you do have to wear a full suit, then try to wear just the shirt and trousers, and put the rest of the suit on as you get there. This will save you from sweating too much! For your smarter clothing wear lighter colours like grey or navy for suits and white or light blue for your summer shirts, you don’t want to wear anything black as this will make you feel hotter. If you are one of the lucky ones and are in a more casual workplace then go for something like an Oxford shirt or polo shirt, chinos or light trousers and a pair of brogues or loafers. This keeps you smart enough for work, but also ready for the multitude of drinks and barbecues you could be heading out to after work.Image Credit: TL @makanveli TR @that_dapper_chapBL @umitobeyd BR @rowanrowSummer dates could be a casual drink outside, a meal by the river or a visit to an outdoor cinema. But for your summer date you want to keep things relatively smart, without being too over the top – you want to look you’ve tried but not too hard.An Oxford shirt with jeans or chinos, a short sleeve shirt with jeans and light coloured Chelsea boots, a light suit with t shirt and shoes or a t shirt, chinos and summer jacket are great options for your date night. You want to keep things light, but also be prepared for slight changes in the weather if your date goes the distance into late evening or early hours of the morning, so avoid shorts and opt for trousers, jeans or chinos.Image Credit: TL @aligordon89 TR @ironkimbleBL @robo_13 BR @rowanrowThe summer is a time when weddings come thick and fast. And a lot of summer weddings include some time outdoors, so there’s a good chance you’ll be out in the sun for a while, so keep things extra light – even more so than with your work outfit. If you’re not too close to the guys getting married and you’re just in for the reception then you can easily take things a bit more casual, and get away without going for a full suit. If you can, then opt for a light coloured shirt and a pair of trousers or a full suit worn with a t-shirt instead of a shirt. These can easily be paired with a more casual shoe like a pair of brogues or loafers. For those closer to the bride and groom, then you want to go smart but still give yourself some breathing room in the heat (they are long days after all).Opt for a light coloured suit (summer is a good time to mix and match with different colour jacket and trousers), a white or light blue shirt unbuttoned and a pair of Oxford shoes or brogues. You can probably also get away with wearing a waistcoat, shirt and trousers without the jacket, and try to avoid a tie if you don’t have to wear one!Image Credit: TL @houseofreza TR @umitobeydBL @thisistimothy BR @rowanrowMost of us want to wear as little as possible when the sun comes out, and therefore a t-shirt, tailored shorts or light jeans and a pair of trainers will be our go to. Keep the colours light and try to avoid all black outfits in the sun at all costs! For those of you that do like to go a little smarter then plump for the Oxford shirt or a polo shirt, a pair of tailored shorts and some loafers or trainers for your go to day to day outfit when not at work! This will also be the time to bring the accessories out too. With the outfit so simple you can go for a baseball cap, some sunglasses and a watch and/or bracelets. However you like to roll!Image Credit: TL @magic_fox TR @raretrioBL @rowanrow BR @avramov.zoranThere’s nothing worse than wearing too many layers in the summer, and sometimes it can be hard to predict what to wear as you approach the colder evenings. For summer evenings you want to go in between and not go over the top with layers, but also keep things warm enough that you’ll be fine if you stay out to the early hours.A great option is a short sleeved shirt or polo shirt with a pair of jeans or trousers and some smart light coloured loafers or Chelsea boots. It’s also a good idea to keep a light jacket on hand or an overshirt that you can throw on if things get colder than you expected.Image Credit: TL @samgraystyle TR @pierre.laurentBL @chezrust BR @rowanrowFestivals are the chance for you to really get adventurous with your clothing options and you can pretty much get away with wearing whatever you want. A short sleeved floral or patterned shirt is a great option for those of you that want something a bit more adventurous than your day to day outfits but not too over the top – a cuban shirt is a great option for the summer! Pair whatever you choose with some accessories – bracelets, rings and a good pair of sunglasses are great options for a festival.Image Credit: TL @avramov.zoran TR @raemonalbaBL @mensstylepro BR @avramov.zoranIf ever in doubt you can’t go wrong with a plain white dress shirt, polo shirt, Oxford shirt or t-shirt in the summer months. The plain white shirt can be paired with almost anything in summer for a smart casual look, so always keep a few of these handy in your wardrobe for the days when you don’t know what to wear. Image Credit: TL @chezrust TR @rowanrowBL @magic_fox BR @joeylondonstyleYOU WILL ALSO LIKE
