18 Awe-Inspiring Escort Card Ideas

From floral cards to fun favors, here are some inspired ways to get wedding guests to their tables.

If you’ve spent time on any of the US wedding blogs, you may have found yourself wondering what exactly are escort cards? It’s a question that we get asked quite a bit, so, today. we’re breaking it all down for you! Escort Cards aren’t quite as popular in the UK and Ireland as they are across the pond, but lately we’ve seen lots of couples and wedding stylists get creative with them! When it comes to table planning, escort cards can be immensely practical, not to mention beautiful to look at, so, in this post, we’re telling you everything you need to know about them!Image Emily Wren Photography via BridesWhat Exactly are Escort Cards?Escort cards look just like placecards, in that they feature the names of your guests, but the crucial difference is that escort cards also communicate which table the guests are sitting at. Rather than leaving them at each place setting, all of the escort cards are arranged near the entrance of the reception space, and your guests pick up the relevant card as they go in. Each escort card includes name of the guest, and the number or name of the table they are to sit at. When guests reach their table, they’re usually free to choose their own seat, but, in some cases, the couple arranges for place cards, too. One of our favourite things about escort cards is that they’re flexible – if some of your guests inform you at the last minute that they aren’t able to make the wedding (which can and does happen!), it’s easy to rework your table plan.Image by Milou and Olin Photography via The KnotEscort Card Styling IdeasThere are lots of gorgeous ways to make escort cards suit the look and feel of your wedding. From planting the cards in pots of flowers, to hanging them on an elaborate ribbon wall, the opportunities really are endless! We’ve seen everything from marble tiles, mini easels, luggage tags, horse shoes, geodes and cacti used as escort cards, and if you hire a good wedding stylist, they’ll be able to come up with even more fabulous ideas! We’ve seen some lovely DIY examples on our travels, too – click on over to our post on DIY escort cards for some ideas you can tackle yourself!
